ARCHITECTURE & OUR CULTURE

Grade 8 Curriculum Resource

Overview

This curriculum resource was developed by Architects’ Association of New Brunswick (AANB) in collaboration with its members and New Brunswick teachers.  The purpose is to provide teachers with a means to support the achievement of particular Grade 8 curriculum outcomes while increasing New Brunswick students’ awareness and understanding of  the architecture in their communities and province. This resource draws on experiences and best practices from other jurisdictions and organizations.

The current Grade 8 Social Studies Curriculum Guide for the Atlantic Provinces including New Brunswick is built on 5 key themes, Physical Setting, Culture, Economics, Technology, and  Interdependence. Given that the buildings around us, is a key factor in shaping and expressing our culture, this curriculum resource is aligned within the Culture Theme within the curriculum.
