Open Practice is seeking an Intern Architect to be involved in all aspects of the practice of architecture.

This full-time job opening will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work directly with the principal in a small collaborative studio environment, across a variety of project types.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

This is an intermediate role, working within an innovative and creative team. You will work both independently and collaboratively with a focus on architectural document production:

• Under the direction of the Principal Architect, develop designs and construction drawings for various project types (ranging from custom single-family homes, multi-unit buildings, and commercial).

• Work in a BIM focused practice to prepare deliverables for all project phases.

• Development of presentation drawings and renderings.

• Research and detailing of architectural building materials and systems.

• Complete working drawings and construction documents.

• Produce drawing packages with interdisciplinary coordination.

• Monitor the timeliness and quality of document packages.

• Involvement in Construction Administration works with support from the Principal Architect.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Self-motivated, creative, hard-working, and comfortable with responsibility.

• Strong design and graphic communication skills.

• Interest and knowledge in sustainable construction materials and methods.

• Working knowledge of Mac Platform and associated software.

• Working knowledge of Vectorworks, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office is ideal but not essential.

• Production expertise and strong BIM proficiency is required.

Required Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in architecture

• Eligibility to register as an Intern Architect or Architect

• 3 - 5 years in a professional office, including architectural production experience.

• Salary Range: Commensurate with level of experience
